Green Wish’s Lawrence, Kan.-based chapter supports the following green organizations:

Friends of the Kaw

Friends of the Kaw (FOK) is a nonprofit, grassroots environmental organization whose mission is to protect and preserve the Kansas River for all generations.

Sustainability Action Network

The mission of the S.A.N. is to bring awareness of the global crisis caused by climate change, energy vulnerability and economic instability to communities in the Kansas River bioregion. Green Wish specifically supports their permaculture garden initiative, planting local community gardens and donating food to surrounding neighborhoods and homeless shelters.

Community Mercantile Education Foundation

Community Mercantile Education Foundation (CMEF) partners with schools to educate students using school gardens. Students plant, tend, and harvest what is grown, which then goes to school cafeterias and local homeless shelters.

Black Jack Nature Park

In the face of rapid suburban development, concerned citizens bought this 40-acre tract in 2003 to preserve this historic area and open space. This is the last piece of natural prairie land in the area that isn't zoned for development.

Sustainable Sanctuary Coalition

Sustainable Sanctuary Coalition is a 501(C)3 interfaith nonprofit begun in 2005 in the Kansas City area. SSC helps congregations become powerful forces for the protection of the planet through education and action, making local church grounds sustainable and teaching church members how to be eco-friendly in practical, applicable ways for their area.
